The one to hook up to your HDTV
With high-def HDMI 1080p
Be impressed with this Philips DVD player with HDMI digital video and audio connection. Step into another home entertainment arena as you immerse yourself with High Definition video (720p / 1080i/1080p).

This is easily the best budget DVD player available, period. It's available at some retailers as low as $60. It plays all my divx files, divx ultra, MP3, and more from just about any type of disc (CD-R, DVD+R, etc.). Additionally, there is a USB port on the front (despite hype, it only transfers at USB 1.1 rates, not 2.0) that will read flash drives and some hard drives. It's a great option to view digital photos, listen to music or watch divx movies without having to burn a disc. Thankfully, Philips ditched the silver color scheme and went for black. This is also one of the few budget plays that has an HDMI port, and will upscale as high as 1080p. You can customize the minimal LCD display, and the firmware is upgradable. Using an easy to find trick, you can also make t his DVD player region free. PAL to NTSC conversion is excellent as well.

There are some drawbacks though. There is no S-Video output, so you either have to go with composite, component, or HDMI. There is a coaxial digital out for audio, but no optical which is a little annoying. The bundled remote has buttons that stick a bit when pushed, and doesn't have enough buttons for all this DVD player can do. Start up time is about fifteen seconds which seems a bit long. Also, it only remembers your last play point for the last five movies you've watched. Divx subtitles also have a slightly transparent background around them, for ease of reading I suppose, but I find it annoying. The DVD tray might also be a bit flimsy for some people, but I like it since it keeps the unit ultra slim.

This is easily the best sub-$100 DVD player available. It will play some movies that won't play properly on other DVDs, and it will play any homemade things you throw at it. If you only buy one DVD player before you go HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, this is the way to go.

I've had a mp3/wma pioneer car stereo for several years now. And it is such a pain to keep burning cds. After playing the cds for a extended period of time. The cds start to skip and jump. I've been a loyal Pioneer user for years. When my dealer texted me that the latest Pioneer model just arrived with USB, I drove straight to Araneta to get it installed.
A USB cable attaches to the back of the Pioneer DEH-P7950UB. The cable is about 4 feet long. I routed the USB cable to my glove compartment. At first I was thinking of getting a 4gb flash drive (Cost PHP1,900.00) then I remembered that a 120gb laptop hard drive (Cost PHP 4,000.00).

So I attached a 120GB hard drive to my Pioneer car stereo. Now I have access to all my audiobooks, music, and gospel music! SWEET!

This model ensures that the widespread usage of USB memory devices is available to Pioneer users. Access and play your portable memory (up to 250GB) via the supplied lead, with supported music formats being MP3, WMA and AAC.
The provision of Direct iPod Control means that almost any current music source can be accessed, played and enjoyed on the DEH-P7950UB.
